Monochrome: A word derived from the Greek word monokhrōmatos, meaning ‘of a single colour’. However, today if someone says that they are stepping out in monochrome it probably means a black and white outfit. Black & White are simply the most tried and tested colors to go with when putting together a single color ensemble, however using other colors can give you some interesting results, a la Queen Bey.
Streetwear is the future of casual dressing. Whether you want to call it Sports-luxe or Athleisure (athletic-leisure, get it?), simple athletic clothing adapted for daily wear is an essential part of any modern man’s wardrobe. It is not a fad or a trend but actually has more to do with lifestyle than fashion. Born out of the surf culture of the 70s, streetwear has been dominated by Nike ever since the conception of the Air Jordan brand, through their monopoly in worldwide sneaker sales. With the rise in sales of apparel from sports franchises in the 90s and the way hip-hop artists and celebrities embraced these products was a huge boost to the streetwear scene.
On Sunday mornings, I like to sit by the lake near my house in a black pea-coat and feed pigeons, waiting for top secret documents like Robert Redford in Three Days of the Condor. Joke. I do not like pigeons, they walk funny. But cold mornings are probably the only time I can actually wear a pea-coat, thanks to the blazing summer that has already set in. Thankfully, it has been raining for the past three days here so this outfit works in the evenings as well, as long as you stay dry. With the monsoons and colder weather coming up, outerwear becomes a necessity. So let’s take a closer look here.
