Outfit #3 from Nautica’s Fall ’15 collection. Read on for an alternative to a down filled jacket, and let’s take a look at how clothes are getting technical.
Nautica’s Fall line is pretty comprehensive and contains many essentials for a winter wardrobe. This vest stood out because it came with a Primaloft filling. Primaloft is a synthetic microfibre filling that was developed for the U.S. Army in the 80’s. It’s a great alternative to down filling and keeps you just as warm, minus the occasional feather that pops out from down filled jackets. And it’s water-resistant too! Primaloft retains 96% of it’s insulating capabilities when wet. That’s mil-spec for you. Perfect for Bangalore weather I say.
It also has a nifty internal pocket with a velcro closure that can hold a 5″ smartphone with ease. This really helps. When buying a vest like this one, make sure that it fits close to your body for a modern look. Avoid oversized, shapeless versions. Those will make you look like a farmer.
Sweatshirts are great ‘bridge’ garments that work in a wide variety of situations. Find one in a basic color with a bit of texture and you have a piece you can wear to the grocery store and to work.
As you can see, I love matching my accessories to my outfits. Black, white and grey make for an extremely underrated color combo.
Menswear is generally moving in a very technical direction, with more and more brands working in a lot of functional tech into their garments to increase their utility. Gone are the days when clothes were worn just to cover your body. Today’s consumer wants clothes that are functional, comfortable and in line with a certain lifestyle. If those are your requirements too, Nautica is the brand for you.
Nautica‘s Fall collection is available in stores now.
