Retro is all the rage now, whether its re-releases or retro-inspired kicks. With most reissues being out of reach for many, retro inspired kicks are a better option. Hot on the heels of other lifestyle offerings from Jordan Brand this year, like the Future and the Shine, the Air Incline is another brilliant sneaker to cop this year.
A leather upper with diamond-like embossing on the sides and some clean lines add a lot of texture and depth to this mid-top. The fully perforated and molded tongue will keep your feet fresh and comfy. Below the molded heel sits a visible air unit which means great impact protection. TPU stability wings that read Flight, sit on both the medial and lateral side, adding some lockdown and wobble resistance. I feel that this shoe takes after the Jordan IV more than anything: air unit, perforated tongue, wings and all.
A phylon midsole is standard, but the best part about this shoe is the clear rubber outsole. In what is a ‘clear’ throwback, many new models are coming out with clear soles and I love this! And of course, herringbone with large grooves moving outward on the sole, provide great traction.
Personally, I see these as a great lifestyle offering and I would not ball in them. At this price point, it is possible to get shoes that offer a lot more in the way of technology that would actually help you on court. However, if it’s the retro look that you’re thirsting after, look no further than the Air Jordan Incline. Throw on a pair of sweatpants and a hoodie and you are good to go. In today’s world where branding is everything, it is shoes like this that make you think about whether you would actually buy them if they didn’t come with the Jumpman logo. I think I still would.
